Obamarx = Obama + Karl Marx
Robert Heinlein once said that “the human race divides itself politically into those who want to be controlled, and those who have no such desire.” Which one do you fall under, because “once the government becomes the supplier of people’s needs, there is no limit to the needs that will be claimed as a basic right (Lawrence Auster).” And, “When a government takes over a people’s economic life it becomes absolute, and when it has become absolute it destroys the arts, the minds, the liberties and the meaning of the people it governs.” Maxwell Anderson
“It’s about food. It’s about your home. It’s about your life.” Neil Cavuto told his audience not too long ago, and yet “The government is worried about all of the above. All I’m saying is you should be worried they’re worried. Here’s why: They’re telling you that you can’t take care of yourself. You can’t be trusted with what you put in your mouth or what you sign on the mortgage dotted line. So they’ll tell you what to put in your mouth and they’ll save you from what you signed on that dotted line. Does anyone see a trend here? Personal responsibility has now become government responsibility.”
“And here we encounter the seeds of government disaster and collapse — the kind that wrecked ancient Rome and every other civilization that allowed a sociopolitical monster called the welfare state to exist” (Barry Goldwater).
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves (William Boetcker).
“Legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways; hence, there are an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, bonuses, subsidies, incentives, the progressive income tax, free education, the right to employment, the right to profit, the right to wages, the right to relief, the right to the tools of production, interest free credit, etc., etc. And it the aggregate of all these plans, in respect to what they have in common, legal plunder, that goes under the name of socialism.
But how is this legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply; see if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime” Frederic Bastiat.
“They have gun control in Cuba. They have universal health care in Cuba. So why do they want to come here?” Paul Harvey

So true. I especially love the Goldwater quote. I believe it’s why history and economics are so lightly taught in public school. What’s the old expression? Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.
Exactly! Wasn’t it States Rights free from complete government control the reason the Civil War ensued? I love how the Civil War is equated with nothing more than Slavery, which was awful and I am by no means making light of it, but the main reason was the taxing of the South at some 80% and not doing so to the Northern States. It was the taking of the outrageous taxes and using it to repair or build roads, bridges, building etc..etc.. for the North at the expense of the South. Slavery was an issue, but ending slavery was not brought into discussion until TWO YEARS into the war-funny how history is NOT taught this way. It is a very brief, as in a few paragraphs brief of states rights and what the government was doing to the Southern states, and then pages upon pages of slavery. Again, Slavery was awful but do not bastardize history for political agendas and/or political correctness.
The government needs to back off! (For others reading this……No, I am not saying a new civil war is going to breakout, just giving some a history lesson as to big overbearing government)
I usually don’t post on Blogs but ya forced me to, great info.. excellent! … I’ll add a backlink and bookmark your site.
Just wanted to drop you a line to say, I enjoy reading your site. I thought about starting a blog myself but don’t have the time.
Oh well maybe one day….
I have NO desire to be controlled. Especially by wealthy industrialists. All I want government to do is keep the playing field level and I will do the rest.
To bad they last 30 years of conservative domination of government has tilted the playing field in favor of the wealthy industrialists and corporate elite while screwing over the small business people and entrepreneurs.
Interesting Derben, and what exactly do you suppose the governments job is? And when you give even more power to the government, just exactly what do you suppose the product of this is?
First and foremost: 30 years of Conservative Dominance? Do you understand or even know American History? If so, then you are fully aware that the individuals who devise, design and make laws rests solely on the shoulders of Congress-yes? The essentially the President merely signs them or VETOS them, where then Congress can over rule the VETO with e 2/3 majority vote?
Right-I am sure that is lost on you and your public education-but I trust you will look this up.
Next: Until 1993, the Democrats controlleg Congress for almost 40 years—that is FOURTY years.
Jimmy Carter-by far the worst President ever, until this Unqualified person serving now decided everyone needed a house whether they could afford it or not. Along with other government handouts, you can see why we are where we are today.
You state “especially by wealthy industrialist” as though the wealthy governmentalist have nothing to do with the issues at hand today?
Remind be again as to what the starting domino was to this whole economic chaos: that’s right, the housing industry and all of the BS loans that HAD to be made to those who could not afford them and should never have qualified.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac- the fraud that ran throughout those GOVERNMENTAL entities where Barney Frank’s lover worked? You know, the same Barney Frank who swore up-and-down there was nothing wrong with them during the Clinton and Bush terms, yet they were the main domino that brought us to where we are today?
The whole mentality of letting the government run medicaid and medicare which are both FULL of $500 million in fraud annually-EACH!
The whole mentality of letting the government run the post office, which has been in the red for years and shows NO SIGNS of improving.
The whole mentality of letting the government run immigration policies/laws, which has now lead to a $110 billion + cost to LEGAL immigrants and American citizens not to mention the huge increase in crime as it pertains to illegal aliens.
The whole mentality of letting the government run the public education systems while allowing unions to bully every aspect of it, which in turn has led to our ranking around the 40′s in the world.
The whole mentality of letting the government run the VA, which in turn had to issue out warnings 2 years ago that some 2,400 soldiers/VETS may be infected with Hepatitis and other disease because they did not clean medical equipment properly; only to follow-up 2 weeks ago with yet another warning that some 2,000+ may be infect with HIV because they did not clean their dental equipment properly.
Couple that with the fraud within the VA, the lack of proper and cost efficient care for our soldiers and VETS—–right, proof that the government overcharges, underruns and cannot maintain yet another entity that THEY CONTROL.
But hey, you are right let the goverment keep doing what it does best in this horrible capitalist driven country (sarcams of course)-because as we can see the government can run things so much better than the free-market!
PS- the government is the demise of small businesses dear, not conservatives. Should you need facts, please look up just exactly who owns more small businesses-trust me, they do NOT belong to the liberal/democratic parties!!!!
BTW– if the government takes over the auto industry, which they did; takes over the banking industry, which they did; take over the education system, which they did; take over the housing industry, which they have done; take over the health care industry, which they are doing; devise and implement laws, which they do; How on earth do you figure that the government is “leveling the playing field”?
Because I fear that your government run public education did not teach you to research facts or even learn history, here is the break down of the past 30 years of Congress; and please do not hesitate to let me know where on earth it is that you gained the whole concept of “30 years of conservatice dominance”:

109 Session: Republicans-Democrats/Republicans 50/50 because the Independents Caucused with the Dems)
110 Session: Democrats/Democrats (2006) Kind of hard to blame Bush for everything seeing as the Dems have been in complete control since January 2007, techincally before that because the Senate was split 50/50 prior to this
110 Session: Democrats/Democrats
111 Session: Democrats/Democrats
112 Session: November 2010
